Baltimore Police have released body-worn camera footage from a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred after an alleged armed carjacking and high-speed pursuit. According to police, officers pursued 42-year-old Maurice Daniels of Millersville following reports of an armed carjacking in Baltimore County. The pursuit ended in the 3300 block of Clifton Avenue in West Baltimore, where officers approached Daniels’ vehicle. Body camera footage shows officers surrounding the van before one officer shouts, “Gun,” prompting six officers to fire more than 70 rounds. Investigators say the object seen inside the vehicle was later determined to be a BB gun that the officer believed was a real firearm. “We recognize that this is a tragic incident that’s difficult to watch,” Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said during Friday’s news conference. “Our thoughts remain with the Daniels family.”
